Every year since I came to college, my older sister, Holly, hosts a Halloween party. All the guests dress up in freakin’ awesome costumes and bring a ghoulish treat.
Last year, I made these cupcakes. I guess they were so good(or at least so creative), I ended up winning best treat!!
(here’s the picture of me and my prize for best treat)^^^
Vampire Fang Cupcakes How-to:
You will need:
Frosting(preferably white – so you can really see the blood)
Chopstick(or other pointed kitchen utensil)
(I personally used a spice cake mix(I confess) and cream cheese frosting – thought it was pretty festive. 🙂 )
Make and bake your cupcakes according to your recipe. Let cool. Frost the cupcakes.
Use the pointy chopstick to poke the fang marks. Poke the holes approximately the same size, spreading them a decent width apart, close to the edge of the cupcake. (I can just totally imagine a zealous vampire getting so psyched to eat a cupcake that he just falls fangs first into the closest pastry possible. It makes me laugh thinking about it like that!)
Dip the chopstick into a blood mixture(see directions below) then allowed the blood to drip off the tip of the chopstick into the fang holes.
If desired, lightly flick the blood mixture on the cupcake top using the chopstick.
1-2 T maple syrup
1-3 drops red food coloring
In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup and red food coloring until you get your desired color. Start with one drop of food coloring, then add a drop at a time until you reach your desired color.
